Arūnas Matelis is a Lithuanian documentary film director and producer.

His documentaries have received main awards at prestigious festivals such as IDFA, Leipzig, ZagrebDox, Oberhausen, Documenta Madrid, and many others. Arūnas is one of the few European film directors to receive a Directors’ Guild of America (DGA) award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement. His film Before Flying Back to the Earth was recognized by DGA as the Best Documentary of the Year. His latest documentary, Wonderful Losers: A Different World, has won 17 international awards, including major prizes at the Warsaw Film Festival, Trieste Film Festival, and more.

Arūnas Matelis is a professor at the Music and Theatre Academy, a member of the National Culture and Art Award Committee, and a member of the Cinema Council under the Ministry of Culture.

He has been serving as the Chairman of the Lithuanian Filmmakers Union since June 6, 2017.
