Rasa Paukštytė was born on September 12, 1965, in Klaipėda. She graduated in Art Studies from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinematography. She worked at the Lithuanian Cinematographers' Union, the Film Department of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, the cinema and theatre department of the cultural weekly "Literatūra ir menas," and the daily newspaper "Verslo žinios." For one season, she was the producer and host of the LTV show "In the World of Cinema."
She has been writing about cinema in the press since 1988. She also edits the magazine "Kino." Currently, she is the editor of the Lithuanian Films website (www.lfc.lt) and the cinema department editor at the daily newspaper "Lietuvos rytas." She regularly writes film reviews, has authored a book titled "I Don't Know..." commemorating Vytautas Žalakevičius’ film "No One Wanted to Die."
Her primary professional activity involves writing critical, analytical, and informational articles about cinema for specialized publications, cultural press, and newspapers. She has also contributed materials about Lithuanian cinema for various catalogs related to Lithuanian film retrospectives abroad (in Poland, France) and collaborates with the press in neighboring countries.
